The most beautiful castles of the Langhe to live with your family
Getting an idea of the surrounding area is essential before setting out to conquer it: extension, conformation, vegetation and any presences, friendly or hostile, are all information that must be available as soon as possible. So, it would be foolish not to take advantage of the many ancient buildings available in this area: the fortified ones, to act, and the sumptuous ones to reflect and restore. Start by visiting the beautiful Castle of Barolo, a true architectural pearl, which houses the famous Wimu. Beautiful, also according to UNESCO, which has included it in the World Heritage heritage, the Castle of Govone, ideal for a winter visit thanks to the Santa Claus Village and its days of activities for children.
Bulwark of culture is the prestigious Castle of Grinzane Cavour which, with its name, wants to pay homage to the statesman who, of Grinzane, was mayor for seventeen years. Here too, between one plan of attack and the next, food and wine is the host, with the Cavour Piedmontese Regional Enoteca, the headquarters of ONAF (National Order of Cheese Tasters), that of the National Order of Knights of the Truffle and Wines of Alba and the National Observatory on Conscious Consumption of Wine.
Strategists also have the right to rest. So what better place than the Pralormo Castle, with its English lawn which, in spring, is colored by thousands of tulips? If the fortress is collaborative, opening its doors to families, the undertaking will be less difficult: this is what the Serralunga d’Alba Castle does every first Thursday of the month, until September, when, at 6.30 pm, it closes to other visitors and opens exclusively to children and their families, offering an ad hoc path and activities designed for them.
Another castle not to be missed is the Racconigi one which, in addition to the guided tour, often organizes funny workshops for children.
